The population of all settlements is currently around 60.000 residents and is estimated at 76.000 inhabitants over the time horizon of projects’ design (2044). In the study, the environmental impacts caused by the construction and operation of the project, were examined and evaluated and appropriate measures in order to tackle these effects were suggested.

Egnatia Highway - Dispilio Kastoria road (Section 45.7.1), (EIAS 163):

This study constitutes the EIAS of the road project: “Dispilio – Kastoria road” of the section “Siatista – Kristallopigi” of Egnatia Motorway.

The project is located in the Prefecture of Kastoria. The project crosses the municipalities of Kastoria, Makedna and Agia Triada. Within the framework of this study , the construction and operation of the road section of total length 4,2Km and 4 at-grade intersections were studied. The project is particularly sensitive firstly because of the existence of the protected lake of Kastoria and secondly of  the internationally important archaeological site Dispilio. The study evaluated the alternatives and proposed measures and conditions to address environmental impacts.

Connection of the Industrial Areas of Thisvi and Oinofyta with the rail network (Phase A) - (EIAS 164):

This study constitutes the EIpAS of the construction and operation of a single rail for freight train service to and from the Industrial Areas of Thisvi and Inofita. The length of railway track is 62 km and the net rail section is 9 m. Three (3) different alignment scenarios involving 5 alternative alignments were examined and evaluated as to their environmental impacts and the best solution from an environmental standpoint was proposed.

Connection of the Industrial Areas of Thisvi and Oinofyta with the rail network (Phase A). Connection of the Industrial Area of Oinofita with the railway station of Oinoi (EIAS 165 & 165B):

These studies constitute the EIpAS and EIAS of the construction and operation of a single rail track of length 1.143 m for freight train service that connects the ELVAL factory with the Oinoi railway station. The environmental impact of the project was examined and appropriate measures in order to tackle these effects were suggested.

These studies constitute the EIpAS and EIAS of the construction and operation of single rail track for freight train service that connects the  premises of the HALKOR foundry with the Dilesi Railway Station.  The total length of the railway track is approximately 4Km

The environmental impact caused by the project was examined and appropriate measures in order to tackle these effects were suggested.

Road Connection of Municipal departments of Koziakas Municipality (section Gorgogyri - Kori) - (EIAS 167):

This study constitutes the the EIAS for the road section “Gorgogyri – Kori”, which connects the homonymous settlements of the municipality of Koziakas, Prefecture of Trikala. The project involves the improvement - widening – asphalting of the existing dirt road, of a total length of 6,8Km and width of 6.0 m. The improvement of this road was necessary, given its very poor geometric features, which, in places, were making the crossing dangerous.
