ELVIEMEK S.A. Freight Centre (EIAS 193)

ELVIEMEK S.A. Freight Centre (EIAS 193):

This study constitutes the EIAS of the construction and operation of an integrated freight transport centre in Oinofyta area in Viotia Prefecture.

The freight center is placed in a plot of 78 ha in which the construction of 22 warehouses of total floor area of 20 ha and the necessary administration buildings are foreseen. The foreseen infrastructure includes internal road network of length 7Km , rail track of length 1 Km for freight train in order to connect the centre with the existing national railway network, as well as one parking area of 0,75ha for trucks, sewerage network for storm water runoff and sewage, wastewater treatment plant, water supply network from an existing borehole. In the study, the environmental impacts of the project were examined and evaluated and appropriate measures in order to tackle these effects were suggested.

Sewage network and wastewater treatment plant of the Oitilo (EIAS 194)

Sewage network and wastewater treatment plant of the Oitilo (EIAS 194A & 194B):
hese studies concern the construction and operation of the sewage network and the wastewater treatment of the Oitilo Municipality. The sewage network (internal and transfer) has a total length of 19Km and includes 6 pumping stations. Two (2) different wastewater treatment plants of 11650 and 3063 population equivalent are foreseen. Regarding the wastewater treatment, the extended aeration treatment system will be applied with biological denitrification and sludge stabilization. Tertiary treatment will involve mechanical filtration and chloride disinfection. Treated effluent will be discharged to the sea (sea area of the project is a non sensitive receiver) by undersea pipelines and appropriate system of diffusers. The environmental impacts from the operation of the project were examined and appropriate measures in order to tackle these effects were suggested.

Road «Corinth - Patra», Elefsina – Corinth section (EIAS 195)

Road «Corinth - Patra», Elefsina – Corinth section excluding the section from K.P. 42 +200 to K.P. 53 +800 (EIAS 195):

This study constitutes the EIAS of the operation of the aforementioned roadwork. The road Elefsina - Corinth is an important part of the main road Patra - Athens - Thessaloniki (PATHE) and is characterized as the most congested, as far as the traffic is concerned, artery of Greece. The beginning of the under study road section is the interchange of Thebes, while the end of the alignment lies in the area of MOTOR - OIL refineries. The intermediate subsections of the motorway «Megara - Kakia Skala» and «Kakia Skala», between K.P. 42 +200.00 and K.P. 53 +800.00 are excluded from the study. Thus the total length of the under study section has 35Km length and is constructed according to European standards, designed speed 120 km/h,  inner lane, interchanges (4), toll station and all the necessary technical works (culverts, bridges, over or underpasses).

In the study, the environmental impacts from the operation of the project were examined and evaluated and appropriate measures in order to tackle these effects were suggested.

Connection of the Industrial Areas of Thisvi and Oinofyta with the rail network (EIAS 196)

Connection of the Industrial Areas of Thisvi and Oinofyta with the rail network (Phase A) - Connection of the Industrial Area of Thisvi with the port of Nousa bay (EIAS 196):
This study constitutes the EIpAS of the construction and operation a single rail for freight train service in order to connect the Industrial Area of Thisvi with the port of Nousa bay. The length of railway track is 7,3 km and the net rail section is 9 m. Engineering works also include the construction of 5 bridges of total length 336m, 1 tunnel of length 1,8 km and a Cut & Cover of length 300 m. The project's objective is to reduce the environmental burden caused by the transfer of raw materials by truck. In the study, the environmental impacts of the project were examined and evaluated at a preliminary level and appropriate measures in order to tackle these effects were suggested.

Road connection of the Municipal Departments of Koziaka Municipality. Section «Gorgogyri - Prodromos» (EIAS 197)

Road connection of the Municipal Departments of Koziaka Municipality. Section «Gorgogyri - Prodromos» (EIAS 197):

This study constitutes the EIpAS of the necessary engineering works in order to improve the technical characteristics of the above mentioned road section, which connects the homonymous settlements of the Municipality of Koziaka in Trikala Prefecture. The engineering works involve the improvement - widening and asphalting of the existing dirt road, of total length of 1,5 Km. The area of the project is particularly sensitive because it is located in the mountain "KERKETIO" (KOZIAKAS) which is a protected area.

In the study, the environmental impacts from the operation of the project were examined and evaluated and appropriate measures in order to tackle these effects were suggested.

New opencast coal mine in the Southwest field of Ptolemaida area (EIAS 198)

New opencast coal mine in the Southwest field of Ptolemaida area (EIAS 198):

This study constitutes the EIAS of an opencast mine aiming at exploiting the deposit of lignite in the Southwest Field at the Lignite Center of West Macedonia (L.C.W.M.) of Public Power Corporation (PPC S.A.). The L.C.W.M. is responsible for the exploitation of lignite deposits in the Main Field mines (Komanos Field, North Field, Mavropigi Field) in the Kardia - Sector 6 mines, in the South Field and Amyndeo Field mines. Administratively the studied area is under the authority of the Prefecture of Kozani. The total area of the project involves approximately 520 ha of mostly agricultural land and the total exploitable lignite deposit amounts to 191 million tons. The production of the mine, which will range from 2 to 13 million tons each year, will be used mainly to supply the thermal power stations of Kardia and Ag. Dimitrios. In the the Kardia plant is produced the 15% of net electricity generation of Greece. Thus the exploitation of the deposit by the proposed mine would contribute significantly to electricity production and thus to energy adecuacy and energy autonomy of Greece.

In the study, the environmental impacts of the project were examined and evaluated and appropriate measures in order to tackle these effects were suggested.
