These studies constitute the EIpAS and the EIAS of the construction and operation of Sisi Interchange (I/C 4) on NRAC. The NRAC is the main road connecting Crete and it crosses the entire northern part of the island from Kissamos in the western edge to Sitia in the eastern one. NRAC is part of the Greek national road network. In the framework of the project a PARCLO shape Interchange on NRAC is implemented along with the reconstruction of the local road network and the Old National Road Agios Nikolaos – Herakleion that is located at a short distance from NRAC. Engineering works also include the formation of 3 at-grade intersections on the local network, the construction of 2 small bridges and the reconstruction of an existing one. The total length of road works is 3,5km. Particular emphasis was given to assess and evaluate the impact on bird life, since the area of the gorge Selinari is protected due to the presence of significant and protected bird species (declared SPA - Special Protection Area for bird life on the basis of Directive 79/409/EE). oad Study "Kastri - Agios Petros - Malevi - Astros" (EIAS 133)

Road Study "Kastri - Agios Petros - Malevi - Astros Section: I/C to Hadakia - I/C to Terzaiika (EIAS 133):

This study constitutes the EIAS of the project. The street is located on the east side of the Prefecture of Arcadia and stretches in the limits of the City of North Kinouria. The technical object under study concerns the improvement of the road section of Kastri - Agios Petros - Malevi - Astros from Hadakia interchange to Terzaiika interchange. The proposed road development follows the existing road both horizontally and hypsometrically, significantly improving its geometrical characteristics.

The studied road was split into two subsections, because of the insertion in the middle of Agios Ioannis village, in which there has been no improvement, due to the fact that it is classified as a traditional settlement. The total project length is about 10,7 km. In the study, the environmental impacts caused by the construction and operation of the project were examined and evaluated and appropriate measures of treatment were suggested. Particular emphasis was given to assess and evaluate the impact on vegetation and flora, given that the project is at the northern boundary of the protected area NATURA, Tops of Mountain Parnonas and the Malevi monastery area (code GR 2520006)
