Environmental Impact Assessment Study of the Road Project “Detour of Pachia Ammos of the segment Pachia Ammos - Afxenas Agathias of NRAC” (EIAS 369)
The present Environmental Impact Assessment Study (EIAS) concerns the road project of the Pachia Ammos bypass, which is part of the Northern Road Axis of Crete (NRAC). The studied section starts from the Frouzis Bridge and ends 3.6km before the entrance of Kavousi; it is about 5.76km long and extends to the regional unit (R.U.) of Lassithi between Ag. Nicholas and Sitia.
The project under consideration is part of a series of projects aiming at the upgrading of the NRAC to a highway, according to pre-existing studies and research related to the subject. The need for this upgrade has emerged from traffic and other transport related data (accidents, dangerous sites locally, etc.),
The study assessed the environmental impacts of the construction and operation of the project and suggested appropriate remedial measures.
