Climate Change Risk Assessment. Cyprus. Contract No. 22/2014 (ΠΕ 162)

The aim of the project was to provide assessment of potential impacts (opportunities and threats) from climate change, focusing on how climate risks are likely to manifest themselves over the 21st century in the absence of action. In the framework of this project the following issues were addressed:

• Assessment of climate risks in the light of methods of assessment and knowledge of climate change impacts;

• Full assessment of how climate interacts with socio-economic factors and how these drivers of risk might change in the future, for example economic growth; population change; land-use change;

• Assessment of how the effects of adaptation actions are likely to alter risk levels; • Estimation of the magnitude of impact and the urgency of action needed for different threats and opportunities, as well as development of an understanding of the possible net effect of different risks acting together;

• Assessment of the uncertainties, limitations and confidence in the underlying evidence and analysis for different climate change risks.

ENERGY BALANCE AND CO2 OUTPUTS (7 AIRPORTS) (ER 161)

ENERGY BALANCE AND CO2 OUTPUTS (7 AIRPORTS) (ER 161)

This report aims to estimate the annual energy consumption and the annual carbon dioxide (CO2) output of the seven Fraport airports. CO2 is the most significant Greenhouse Gas (GHG) associated with the operations of an airport. The approach followed in this report in calculating the annual carbon dioxide output is in accordance with the following documents:

The EMEP/EEA 2013 air pollutant emission inventory guidebook (formerly called the EMEP CORINAIR emission inventory guidebook).

The Guidance Manual: Airport Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management of the Airports Council International World Environment Standing Committee (1st Edition, November 2009)

Report 11 Guidebook on Preparing Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventories of the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) (2009). It provides detailed information on how to calculate the emissions from each source at an airport including aircraft, APU, GSE, ground access vehicles, stationary sources, waste management activities, training fires, construction activities, and others.

Airport Air quality guidance manual of ICAO Doc 9889. This document provides detailed methodologies for calculating emissions from a variety of airport sources including aircraft engine start-up.

Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (2006), Volume 2: Energy, Chapter 3: Mobile Combustion, Paragraph 3.6 Civil Aviation, of the IPCC.

The Greenhouse Gas Protocol of the World Resources Institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (2004).

The project - activity entitled "Installation and operation of the 660 MWe electric power plant of" PPC SA ", with pulverized lignite fuel with a capacity of 140 MWth for district heating, in the space Of the depleted mine of Komanos of the lignite field of Ptolemaida, of the municipality of Eordea of Kozani "has been licensed to the environment with the number 211598 / 3-5-2012 SEPS as it has been amended by the number 29105 / 30- 6-2016 Decision.

The new SEPS has been placed in place of the depleted lignite area of the Komana mine in the Ptolemaida area of Municipality of Kozani. It will consist of a steam power plant with a gross nominal power of 660 MWe with a capacity of 140 MWth for district heating. Unit V (the main installations of the SEPS excluding the lignite yard) will be built on a land of 576 acres, which is developed on a property plot PPC total area of 8.343 acres. The unit is located about 7km southeast of Ptolemaida and about 20km north of the city of Kozani. The nearest settlement is Karyochori, about 700m north of the Unit Stadium.
