Integrated Water Resources Management Region of Crete
This is the Water Resources Management study which was implemented at a water district level (Crete). Within the study’s framework, the following took place:
- Determination of the water balance of Crete, following the collection, processing, completion and analysis of the available hydrological and hydrogeological information.
- Inventory of the existing and future water demands (domestic water, irrigation, industry, environment and leisure) following the forecast of future growth and economic development of the region.
- Evaluation of the current environmental state and determination of environmental constraints for conservation and management of the ecosystem, and
- Implementation of an appropriate Water Resources Management Model to impress, in quantitative data, the behavior of existing and proposed infrastructure projects under different water supply scenarios and different scenarios for future growth of the demand.
